Public urged to remain vigilant as fire crews battle large fire in Dublin Mountains

A helicopter is on scene and aerial firefighting operations are taking place.

THE PUBLIC HAS been urged to remain vigilant as fire crews continue to battle a large fire in the Dublin Mountains.

Dublin Fire Brigade and Wicklow Fire Brigade crews from Greystones, Blessington and Bray fire stations are currently fighting a large fire on Glassamucky Mountain, which is part of the Dublin Mountains on the Dublin / Wicklow Border west of Glencree.

A helicopter is also on the scene and aerial firefighting operations are taking place.

The fire crews are also being supported by staff from the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Coillte.

The Military Road is currently closed to all traffic and the public is reminded to refrain from flying drones in the area.

Wicklow County Council has also advised the public to avoid the affected area and remain vigilant.
