A RECEIVER HAS been appointed to South Dublin Motors Limited, one of the largest Ford dealership in the country, it has been revealed today.

The company is to cease trading with the loss of 41 jobs. Employees were informed this morning of the decision.

Receiver Kieran Wallace of KPMG has been appointed to the company, which had two showrooms in Tallaght and Rathfarnham. In addition to the sale and service of vehicles, the company also had more than 1,500 Ford Vehicles in fleet.

The company’s most recent audited accounts – to 31 December 2008 – report losses in excess of €1 million for that year. No accounts have been filed since that date.

South Dublin Motors Ltd has been subject to two separate Section 214 petitions by the Revenue Commissioners in recent months, with the most recent presented on 31 March 2011.

It has been stressed that Armada Fleet Services, a related company to South Dublin Motors, is continuing to trade as normal and will be unaffected by today’s announcement.
