FOUR PEOPLE WERE rescued off the coast of Achill Island on Friday evening after their boat ran into engine troubles.

The Achill Island Lifeboat said the four had managed to tie a rope onto a nearby string of lobster pots to stop the small boat from being wrecked on the shore under the Minaun Cliffs.

The Achill Coast Guard and the Achill Island Lifeboat were both called to the scene to help.

The four people were brought ashore to Purteen Habour by the Coast Guard. Nobody was injured in the incident.
