Man in his early 20s dies in road crash in Cork

The two-vehicle road traffic collision took place on the N72 Fermoy-Ballyhooely Road at around 8am this morning.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a road traffic collision which left a man dead this morning.

The incident took place on the N72 Fermoy-Ballyhooly Road at around 8am this morning.

The sole occupant of one car, a man in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after his car was in a collision with a 4×4 vehicle.

The driver and two passengers in the 4×4 vehicle have been taken to Cork University Hospital, gardaí said in a statement.

The scene is preserved and Garda forensic collision investigators are examining the scene this morning. The road is currently closed, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí at Fermoy garda station are appealing for witnesses, particularly those who were travelling on the N72 this morning.
