Search for missing fisherman to resume today

Searchers are now focusing on the south end of the lake after 30 divers scoured the area yesterday.

THE SEARCH FOR a missing Armagh fisherman has entered its fifth day in Lough Ree.

The man in his 30s, identified over the weekend as Daryl Burke, has been missing since Thursday after their boat was hit by heavy rain.

One man, 27-year-old David Warnock, died in the accident, while a 60-year-old man, John Trimble, remains in hospital.

The three men were part of a fishing club trip to the lake last week.

A number of volunteers took part in the search over the weekend, though the Coast Guard could not confirm if they would be involved today.

Garda divers, the Coast Guard and the Lough Ree lifeboat are involved in the search.
