THIS DAY 12 years ago, American citizens were gripped by terror as a number of the nation’s buildings came under attack.
Nearly 3,000 people died at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Virginia and on a plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania that day.
The front pages of the next day’s newspapers provide a snapshot of the horrific morning.
