Man stabbed at shopping centre in Kilkenny

A man in his late 30s is being held at Kilkenny Garda Station.

A MAN HAS been stabbed at a shopping centre in Kilkenny.

The incident happened at around 2.30pm this afternoon when a man in his late 50s was attacked by another man in his late 30s.

He was attacked at the High Street entrance of the city’s Market Cross centre.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny.

It is understood that the victim injured his head in a fall after being stabbed.

He is in a stable condition.

His attacker was arrested and is currently being detained at Kilkenny Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act which allows for him to be held for a maximum of 24 hours.
