Detention extended in ongoing murder investigation in Co Antrim

25-year-old Kevin O’Neill was stabbed in a house in Stroanshesk Park in Ballycastle, Co Antrim, yesterday.

DETECTIVES FROM THE PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have been given additional time by a court to question a 28-year-old male suspect as part of their ongoing investigation into the murder of 25-year-old Kevin O’Neill in Ballycastle in Co Antrim yesterday.

Police were contacted yesterday following a report of a stabbing in a house in Stroanshesk Park.

O’Neill was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police would ask anyone who saw or had contact with the deceased between the evening of Saturday 20 April and lunchtime on Sunday 21 April to contact detectives at Ballycastle on 0044 845 600 8000 or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0044 800 555 111.

A post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.
