Status Yellow

Careful out there - there's a weather warning for some counties this morning

It’s for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. But the rest of the country won’t exactly be warm either…

IT’S HARD ENOUGH getting out of bed on a Monday morning without having a weather warning to worry about.

And if you live in Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, things are a little colder than the rest of the country this morning. The weather in these areas is so inclement that there’s a status yellow weather warning in place.

Met Éireann is warning folks living in these four counties to expect heavy, thundery showers which it says will increasingly turn wintry. There is likely to be some snow accumulations over hills.

The warning is in place until 10am today, so careful on the roads as you make your way to work or school.

Overall, we can expect a cold day with icy patches, and a bit of patchy rain tonight.

We’d recommend a night in front of the fire with a good Christmas movie. Sure it’s only right.
