Tesco's self checkouts now say 'Ho Ho Ho' and it's freaking people out

IT’S CHRISTMAS AT Tesco. The decorations are up and the advent calendars are marked down.

And the self checkouts are doing Santa impressions.

Their new voice says ‘HO HO HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS’ to customers passing through.

It’s getting a mixed reception so far.

This summer, Tesco changed the voice of their self-service checkouts to make it “friendlier” after customers said they found the previous one “shouty” and “irritating”.

They did not at that time reveal their plans to make their checkouts do Santa voices.

However, it seems to be a strategy that’s replicated in other places too. This is Tesco’s website this morning:

And this was spotted at a Tesco in Dundee last month. Yes, those are all different kinds of Coke. Fair play, tbh.
