  • Gardaí in Ennis are appealing for help in locating 48-year-old Evelyn Vaughan who has been missing since yesterday morning.
  • Online advertising spending grew 13.5 per cent last year, according to a study by PricewaterhouseCooper.
  • The IMF is on a roll this week. In its third major report in three days, the financial organisation warns that the sovereign debt problems in Europe continue to pose a risk to global financial stability.
  • The EU has imposed a €315.2m fine on two major consumer product companies for price fixing… laundry detergent.
  • The Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi, 74, has said he will not contest the country’s next general election in 2013, the Guardian reports.
  • A pathologist has told the inquest into the death of a man who died after being pushed and knocked down by a police officer during the London G20 protests in 2009 that the push may have caused the heart attack which killed him. But, the BBC reports, the pathologist also said he could not establish a causal link between between the push and his death.
  • People in Thailand have been marking the country’s New Year in the first of three days of celebration.
