Third man charged with attempted murder of 5-year-old in London

Two bystanders, a five-year-old girl and a man aged 35, were shot and seriously injured in an attack on a grocery shop in Brixton late last month.

A 20-YEAR-OLD MAN has been charged with the attempted murder of a child and a 35-year-old man in a shooting in Brixton, south London, on 30 March.

The two victims were standing in a small grocery store when shots were fired through the open door, wounding the child, Thusha Kamaleswaran, in the chest and Roshan Selvakumar, 35, in the face. Both were seriously injured.

Police said at the time that they believed two youths had been chased into the shop by three others on bikes, one of whom then fired into the shop after them. A 19-year-old man was arrested the following day on suspicion of attempted murder.

Earlier today, the Metropolitan Police said they had arrested two more people in connection with the incident, one aged 21 and the other 17, bringing to six the total number arrested in the investigation.

Sky News reports this evening that a third man, 20-year-old Nathaniel Grant of Camberwell New Road, has been charged with the attempted murder of Kamaleswaran and Selvakumar. Two teenagers, Kazeem Kolawoli, 18, and Anthony McCalla, 19, were charged earlier this month.

Kamaleswaran remains in stable condition in hospital, according to the BBC. Selvakumar has been discharged, but continues to receive treatment for his injuries.
