Tributes paid after death of "hugely talented" young Irish musician

Stevie Martin’s body was found a number of weeks after he was reported missing.

TRIBUTES HAVE BEEN paid from people throughout the Irish music scene after the death of musician Stevie Martin, known as Rainy Boy Sleep.

The Donegal native, who was 29, had been reported missing three weeks ago and his body was recovered this weekend.

The longtime musician had released two EPs since 2014 and was well-known on the Irish music circuit.

A friend of Martin’s said on Facebook that his body had been located over the weekend. His family thanked people for their prayers and concern.

Musician Soak paid tribute to Martin, saying:

I remember seeing him play at a festival locally when I was 13 and wishing I could write the songs he was singing, soon after that we made friends and he came to some of my first ever shows. We were lucky enough to have him on the road last year in Ireland for a couple of gigs and it was one of the most memorable tours we’ve done. Never saw you without a smile on your face, was a pleasure to know you Stevie, rest in peace x

Tributes have also been paid by Martin’s fans, fellow musicians and the Irish music press on Twitter:
