ANYONE WHO HAS ever changed from an iPhone to another smartphone will know how frustrating it is to stop iMessage from receiving messages from iPhone users.

Now such days are at an end as Apple quietly launched a new tool which allows you to deactivate iMessage, ensuring all of your messages go to your new phone.

Coming in the form of a support page, deactivating your number is a matter of entering it in and Apple will send you a confirmation code over SMS. Once you type it into the browser window, you’re no longer registered as an iMessage user.

Apple already allowed you to turn off iMessage on your phone, but that was only if you still have your iPhone (you put your SIM back in and turn off iMessage in settings > messages).

For those who switched devices, they would no longer be able to see messages sent from friends using Apple devices. This was down to Apple continuing to send texts through iMessage even when they’ve moved onto other devices.

The only way to solve this was to contact AppleCare and request them to deregister your phone number.

Now, it should be more straightforward to turn off and get all your SMS messages instead of them being sent to an unused service.
