GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED around €1.7 million worth of cannabis from the Swords area of Dublin.
Two men aged in their 40s and 50s were arrested in connection with the seizure, which is part of an ongoing investigation targeting serious and organised crime in the capital.
Yesterday, just before 8pm officers from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau conducted an intervention on two vehicles in Swords. Subsequently, searches were conducted at two residential properties in the Swords and Ballybrack areas of County Dublin.
During this operation, gardaí seized six kilograms of cocaine, 65 kilograms of cannabis, €100,000 in cash, a cocaine press, mixing agent, and three high-value vehicles.
The drugs have yet to be analysed.
The two males were arrested in relation to drug trafficking and are currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Investigations are ongoing.
