Two feared dead in Welsh oil refinery explosion - report

Emergency services remain at the scene of an explosion at the Chevron refinery in west Wales, but a fire which broke out has been extinguished.

EMERGENCY SERVICES in Wales are investigating an explosion at the Chevron Oil Refinery in which two people are believed to have died.

Dyfed Powys Police said that an emergency call was received just before 6.30pm this evening and that police are working alongside ambulance teams and fire and rescue services at the scene.

Reuters reports that a BBC television report said that two people were feared dead, although the emergency services had no information on casualties. ITV News tweeted:

It is understood that two petrol tankers collided inside the Chevron oil refinery, killing both the drivers.

A fire which broke out on the refinery after the explosion was put out within an hour and a half by the ten fire engines sent to the scene.
