Two men injured following alleged assault in Co Laois

One man was taken to Portlaoise General Hospital for treatment.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after two men were injured following an alleged assault in Co Laois. 

The alleged incident took place on Main Street in Portlaoise in the early hours of Saturday morning. 

The two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, received non-life threatening injuries. One man was taken to Portlaoise General Hospital for treatment. 

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

They are particularly appealing to any road users, taxi drivers or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and who were in the area of Main Street, Portlaoise on the morning of Saturday, 8 November between 2am and 3am to contact them.

A garda spokesperson said that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
