Unseen aerial footage emerges of 9/11 attacks

Video posted online shows aerial footage taken by the NYPD after planes struck the World Trade Centre in the infamous 11 September 2001 attacks.

NEW AERIAL FOOTAGE OF THE 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in downtown New York city has been posted online.

Filmed by New York police on a helicopter above the Twin Towers, the video shows smoke billowing from the buildings, before later capturing their collapse.

The NYPD footage was posted online by the Cryptome website, which says it received the video anonymously. However, the BBC reports that the video was released after the National Institute of Standards and Technology submitted a Freedom of Information request.
