Visa Debit cards and ATMs 'back working' after lunchtime outage
Customers at both Permanent TSB and AIB have reported problems.
TWO IRISH BANKS have said an earlier issue with Visa Debit transactions has been resolved and that cards will now work at point of sale and at ATMs.
Both AIB and Permanent TSB customers experienced problems with transactions failing over lunchtime. It is understood that some people were also unable to access cash through ATMs.
Permanent TSB said the issue was caused by a wider, external outage. It offered its apologies for the inconvenience.
The problem stemmed from a third-party provider. TSYS said a systems slowdown at its UK data centre impacted its ability to provide timely payment authorisations for some of its European clients for a period of time today.
Visa Europe’s operations operated as normal all day.
