First Dates or a Gavin & Stacey special? Liven up your week with these night-in TV picks

Keep every housemate happy with these recommendations from entertainment journalist Andrea Kissane.

‘RIGHT… WHAT WILL we watch?’

A simple question, but one that can feel about as easy as climbing Everest if you’re not in a decisive mood. So if you have a date night or a housemates’ TV night planned this week, it’s best to be prepared. We’ve asked entertainment journalist Andrea Kissane to weigh in with a handpicked guide to the best TV picks for the week of Monday February 8.

Whether you’re looking for gripping movies, laugh-out-loud entertainment or something to get you into the Valentine’s mood, here’s what you’ll find on some of Vodafone TV’s 80+ channels. Now to work out who’s next up on the tea rota…

1. Must-watch movies

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Monday Feb 8, 9pm – 11:20pm, Film 4
Oscar-winning dark comedy drama about a mother who wants the cops to solve her daughter’s murder using three precisely worded billboards. Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell star in Martin McDonagh’s critically acclaimed 2017 film.

Bridget Jones’s Diary, Thursday Feb 11, 9pm – 11pm, Comedy Central
Well-loved romantic comedy adapted from the bestselling novel by Helen Fielding. Oscar-nominated Renée Zellweger stars in the first cinematic appearance of the popular 30-something protagonist. Hugh Grant and Colin Firth play her love interest triangle – though Bridget’s granny pants were the true breakout star of this deliciously funny and witty movie.

2. Crowd-pleasing entertainment

Dog lover or can fanatic? This animal rescue series is the ultimate in heartwarming (and tearjerking) telly. In this episode, Amanda and her kids travel to Hawaii, where they rescue a blind puppy, and Super Scootie, a senior dog in need of a home and serious TLC after years of neglect.

We Love Gavin & Stacey, Friday Feb 12, 10pm – 11:30pm, Comedy Central
What’s occurin’? Fans of the comedy series won’t want to miss this celebration of Ruth Jones and James Corden’s hit show, with stars including Alison Steadman, Larry Lamb and Melanie Walters revealing backstage gossip. Location manager Nicky James lets viewers in on filming secrets, and they reveal how they managed to pull off that cliffhanger finale. Tidy.

The Graham Norton Show, Friday Feb 12, 10:45pm – 11:35pm, BBC One
The Bandon funny man is joined this week by Oscar-nominated Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya to talk about his new film, crime biopic Judas and the Black Messiah. Sienna Miller drops in to chat about her surreal drama Wander Darkly, while Mayim Bialik tells us all about starring in new Miranda-based sitcom Call Me Kat. And British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks performs her current single, Caroline.

The Masked Singer, Saturday Feb 13, 7pm – 8:30pm, Virgin Media One
We’re down to the final celebs who are left standing and singing for their supper. Joel Dommett hosts the glossy performance show where celebrities are disguised in crazy costumes as panellists Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan try to guess their secret identities. Can you decipher the clues to discover the famous face behind the mask before the winners are revealed?
