Fourth person arrested over raid on cash-in-transit van

Three others arrested over Saturday afternoon’s armed raid are still in Garda custody.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING an armed raid on a cash-in-transit van in Walkinstown at the weekend have arrested a fourth person.

The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested in the Tallaght area this afternoon and is being held at Terenure Garda station.

The arrest follows a planned operation yesterday afternoon in which officers had arrested two other men, aged in their 40s and 20s, and a woman in her 20s.

The three people arrested yesterday all remain in custody at Crumlin and Sundrive Road Garda stations.

All four are being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.

An undisclosed amount of cash was recovered in yesterday’s raids.

Saturday’s raid occurred at a filling station off the Long Mile Road at about 4:15pm, when a lone masked raider – who was armed – approached an employee who had been collecting cash from the building.
