Woman in her 60s killed and man taken to hospital after car crash in Cork

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.

A WOMAN IN her 60s has died in a two-car crash on the N25 Midleton to Youghal Road in Cork. 

A man in his 60s, who was travelling in the same car as the woman, has been taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries gardaí said are believed to be serious. 

The crash happened at around 6:15pm near the Two Mile Inn.

No other injuries have been reported and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. 

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.  

Garda said it is expected to remain closed overnight and into tomorrow morning. 

An examination of the scene is to be conducted by forensic investigators.
