Poll: Was the Garda Commissioner right to order officers to report for duty on Friday?

There is less than 48 hours before gardai withdraw their labour for the first time in the history of the State.

GARDA COMMISSIONER NÓIRÍN O’Sullivan issued a directive yesterday, ordering all members of the force to report for duty on Friday, the first day of the planned strike by rank-and-file gardaí.

The AGSI and GRA, which represent the vast majority of the force, are currently locked in last-minute talks with the government in a bid to stave off the unprecedented industrial action.

The two organisations have both rejected new deals in recent days.

This morning we’re asking: Was the Commissioner right to order gardaí to report for duty on Friday?
