Belfast attack: Second man dies from injuries in hospital

Senior UDA figure Colin ‘Bap’ Lindsay was killed in the course of the attack. A second victim has now died.

A SECOND MAN injured in an attack in Belfast on Wednesday night has died from his injuries.

Senior UDA figure Colin ‘Bap’ Lindsay was killed in the course of the attack at Kirkstown Walk on Wednesday.

The PSNI have now confirmed the death of 52-year-old Stanley Wightman, who had been in a critical condition in hospital.

A 46-year-old man, Albert Armstrong from Mahee Close in the Belvoir estate, has already appeared in court charged with Lindsay’s murder.

The PSNI say they will now move to have those charges amended.

They’ve also issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward.

“We want to hear from anyone who saw or spoke to Colin Lindsay, Stanley Wightman or Albert Armstrong at any time on Wednesday or who knows anything about their movements,” Detective Chief Inspector Richard Campbell said.

“We are also appealing for information about the blue Mazda 6 car, registration number FHZ 6126. We want to hear from anyone who saw this car on Wednesday to contact us.”

“Anyone with any information can call police on the non-emergency number 101 and ask for detectives at Ladas Drive or they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
