Minister Denis Naughten out of hospital after treatment for cycling accident

The Communications Minister had spent the last few days in hospital following a cycling collision.

THE MINISTER FOR Communications has been discharged from hospital, where he spent the last few days recovering from injuries sustained in a cycling accident.

Minister Denis Naughten had been cycling with his wife near Roscommon Town on Monday afternoon when he struck by a vehicle on the Castlecoote road.

A witness said that the TD was at the scene for about an hour before an ambulance transferred him to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, Galway.

A department spokesperson told the TheJournal.ie that the issue was a “family matter” but the minister has been released and is now safely back at home.

There was no indication given, however, when Naughten will return to his ministerial and TD duties.
