Eight men due in court over dissident republican activity

Nine men were arrested in two raids in Dublin on Wednesday, with one being released by gardaí since then.

EIGHT MEN ARE due to appear in court this evening after being arrested in two raids in Dublin earlier this week in connection with dissident republican activity.

On Wednesday, eight man, ranging in age from 20 to 40, were arrested at a house in Tallaght on suspicion of being members of an unlawful organisation. One has since been released, with a file due to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions but the other seven will appear at a sitting of the Special Criminal Court in Dublin this evening.

In a separate arrest on Wednesday, a 46-year-old man was also arrested in Cloghran, Co Dublin, after a search revealed a quantity of ammunition and component parts of explosives in containers at a yard. This man will also appear at the court at 6pm.
