Man arrested after gardaí search 6 premises in 3 Leinster counties

The man is being detained at a Kildare garda station under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.

A MAN IN his 30s has been arrested in Kildare following a search operation in three Leinster counties.

Six separate searches of premises in Co Kildare, Co Carlow and Co Dublin were made as part of Operation Thor – a garda operation focusing on organised crime operations in Ireland.

A small amount of drugs were found at each of the six premises.

The man is being detained at a Kildare garda station under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.

On Wednesday, gardaí from the Kilkenny/Carlow division carried out a day of action in the Thomastown area, Co Kilkenny which resulted in 52 arrests.

18 of those were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, 11 of which have been charged in connection with investigations into burglary, theft and possession of controlled drugs.

Four people were arrested for the purpose of charge in connection with investigations including theft.

On Friday a major crackdown on transient criminal gangs resulted in the arrest and charge of 31 people in areas of North Dublin.

Comments have been closed as some of those arrested have been charged.
