Man injured in Navan explosion

Gardaí and the army bomb squad are investigating an explosion outside a house in Beechgrove this morning.

A 48-YEAR-MAN is being treated for injuries he sustained in an explosion outside his home in Navan, Co Meath, this morning.

The explosion occurred at around 8am today at a house in Beechgrove. He is being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

An army bomb disposal team was called to the scene earlier and is carrying out post-blast analysis on site and on a suspected improvised explosive device. The area has been sealed off for a technical examination.
