'Ninja' raiders with knife chased away by sword-wielding store owner

Don’t bring a knife to sword fight…

Updated at 11.50pm

EVER HEARD THE expression ‘don’t bring a knife to a gun fight’?

Well the owner of this convenience store in Pittsburgh didn’t have a gun handy – but he gave two teenagers who tried to hold-up his shop the fright of their lives when they pulled a knife on him on Friday night.

The two raiders, dressed as ninjas, had been expecting an easy robbery – but the tables were turned when Jewad Hayitt produced his blade.

Surveillance video screened on the local CBS station shows the teens entering Perry Market, before one goes behind the counter with his knife and demands money.

Hayitt knocks the smaller weapon out of one teen’s hand.

A customer then grabs the second suspect.

However, he later breaks free – and both teens run away.

Hayit told CBS the teenagers had a lucky escape.

He also has a gun but in this instance chose to stick with his sword.

With reporting by AP.
