Man attempts Post Office robbery armed with knife

A man in his 40s was arrested a short time after the attempted robbery.

A MAN HAS been arrested following an attempted Post Office robbery on Collins Avenue in Dublin.

At 3.30pm a lone male entered the Post Office, which is located in a shop, on Collins Avenue and demanded cash. He was armed with what was described as a knife.

The man, who is in his 40s, left the scene empty handed in the direction of Swords Road. A garda unit responding to the call arrested him a short distance away on Swords Road and recovered a knife.

There was no one injured in the incident.

The arrested man is currently detained at Coolock Garda Station.
