Ex-Power Ranger suspected of killing housemate with a sword

Police say Ricardo Medina is believed to have killed Joshua Sutter after a fight.

AN ACTOR WHO played the red ranger in the Power Rangers TV series has been arrested on suspicion of killing his housemate with a sword.

Ricardo Medina (36) was arrested on suspicion of stabbing Joshua Sutter (36) to death at their home in Palmdale, Los Angeles at 4pm on Saturday afternoon.

Police say there was an argument between the two men which turned violent. Medina is then understood to have gone to his bedroom with his girlfriend.

Sutter followed him and forced the bedroom door open. Medina is then believed to have stabbed Sutter once in the abdomen with a sword kept next to the bedroom door.

Medina phoned the police himself and was later arrested by homocide detectives who came and questioned him.

The actor played the part of the red ranger for 40 episodes in Power Rangers Wild Force in 2002. He played further roles as part of the franchise in the Power Rangers Samurai TV show as well as several video games.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in lieu of a $1 million  bail.
