Teenager dies and another seriously injured in stolen car collision

An 18-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

A TEENAGER DIED and another was seriously injured when a stolen car they were travelling in struck a wall early this morning.

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the black BMW.

An 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on the Birr Road in Roscrea, Tipperary.

His body has been removed to Limerick Regional Hospital for a post mortem examination.

The 16-year-old is currently being treated at the same hospital for serious injuries.

The incident occurred shortly before 2am, and diversions are in place until gardaí complete a technical examination of the scene.

Gardaí are seeking information in relation to the black BMW car taken from a compound at Brosna, Birr, Co Offaly, between 1am and 1.40am.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Roscrea Garda Station on 0505 24230, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111, or any Garda Station.
