Search continues for missing fisherman
Wexford man John Ennis has not been seen since the boat he was working aboard sank on Friday morning in the Suir estuary.
THE SEARCH FOR A missing Wexford fisherman has resumed this morning off the southern coast.
John Ennis, 64, a father of four from Co Wexford has been missing since his boat sank on Friday in the Suir estuary.
The boat’s skipper Richard McNamara managed to swim to shore and raise the alarm, and the boat was subsequently found on the seabed.
Search teams were out earlier this morning, and Dunmore East Lifeboat Station operations manager Ciaran Mullins told TheJournal.ie that he is waiting for reports from the crews on today’s activity.
He said navy divers are on standby to take part in today’s search.
Although poor weather has been hampering search and rescue operations since Saturday morning, Mullins said that this morning’s fog was clearing up and conditions were otherwise good.
