Three arrested over attempted abduction of Kildare family

Armed men tried take a security company employee, his wife, and their 2-year-old son hostage in their Kildare home in April of last year.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED three men in connection with the attempted abduction of a family in Kildare last year.

Armed and masked men tried to take a security company employee, his wife, and their 2-year-old son hostage in their home in Kilmeade, Co Kildare on 27 April last year.

The gang struck early in the morning as the employee was making his way to work. They fled the scene after a panic alarm was activated.

The men were arrested in Dublin this morning in connection with the incident.

They are being detained in separate garda station in Kildare and Dublin. One man in his late 30s is being detained in Naas Garda station while another, also in his late 30s, is in Newbridge Garda station. The third man, who is in his late 40s, is in Leixlip Garda station.

All three are being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.
