Man arrested after fatal hit-and-run in Tipperary released without charge

A 68-year-old man died in the incident.

A MAN IN his 40s has been released without charge after he was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in Tipperary on Sunday night.

A 68-year-old man was struck at around 10.20pm while walking on the Ballysloe-Glengoole Road near Poynestown.

At the time, gardaí said that “all indications at this stage are that the deceased was struck by a vehicle which failed to stop”.

The man in his 40s was arrested yesterday afternoon. Gardaí said that he has now been released without charge, while a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
