Two men arrested in Cork after handguns found in vehicle

Two handguns were found in a vehicle which was stopped in the Deanrock area of Togher. The occupants are being questioned.

TWO MEN ARE continuing to be questioned after two handguns were found in a car in Co Cork.

The arrests were made in the Deanrock area of Togher, Co Cork, yesterday by members of the detective unit.

A vehicle was stopped and searched just after 4pm, at which point two handguns were recovered. The two males who were in the vehicle at the time were arrested and are currently being detained at Togher Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

The arrests came as part of an ongoing operation into the activities of dissident republicans.
