Man (19) in critical condition after Drumcondra crash

The Swords Road has re-opened following a forensic examination.

Updated at 9.45am

A MAN IS in a critical condition in hospital after he was knocked down in Dublin city centre in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí have said that a 19-year-old man was knocked down at around 4.10am. He is being described as being in a critical condition. He is being treated in the Mater Hospital.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The Swords Road was closed both ways at Griffith Avenue – one of the main traffic arteries into the city for out-of-county commuters - while garda forensic collision investigators conduct their investigations.

Major traffic delays were experienced as a result of the road closure, but it has since reopened fully.

Witnesses to the collision are being asked to contact the gardaí in Santry on 01 6664000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
