Poll: Should the voting age be lowered to 16?

The proposal will be debated in the Seanad today.

SENATORS WILL TODAY debate whether or not the voting age should be lowered from 18 to 16.

Legislation is being proposed by Sinn Féin Senator Fintan Warfield and, if passed through both houses of the Oireachtas, would reduce the voting age at local government and European Parliament elections.

Some people believe 16-year-olds should have a say in how politics affects them, while others feel they are too young to vote.

What do you think: Should the voting age be lowered to 16?
