Woman in 60s killed by car in Kerry

The female pedestrian was hit by a car near Farranfore.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a fatal accident in which a woman in her 60s was killed by a car.

The incident occured at Longfield, Firies, Farranfore, County Kerry shortly after 6.45pm this evening.

A female pedestrian in her mid 60s was fatally injured when she was struck by a car.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body removed to Kerry General Hospital where a post mortem will be performed.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road will remain closed overnight at the scene of the collision, pending an examination of the area by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Farranfore Garda Station on 066 – 9764111, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
