52-year-old man killed in Clondalkin murder

A man dies from gunshot injuries after an incident in the early hours of the morning at his home in Shancastle Avenue.

A 52-YEAR-OLD MAN has died at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds at his home in Clondalkin.

The incident at the house on Shancastle Avenue, near Palmerstown, occurred at around 4am when a group of armed men tried to break down the doors of the man’s home.

When they failed to do so, they shot through a broken panel in the door, striking the man – who was standing in the hallway – multiple times.

Other members of the man’s family were in the house but none were injured. The man was removed to James Connolly memorial hospital in Blanchardstown where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí at Ronanstown have issued a general appeal for anyone with information to contact them at (01) 666 7700, or the Garda confidential line at 1800 666 111.

The area has been sealed off pending the arrival of a Garda forensic team.
