4. Former finance minister Michael McGrath will be grilled by lawmakers at the EU Parliament later today at his confirmation hearing.

5. Ireland is unlikely to meet its climate obligations, even under the “most optimistic scenario”.

6. In what is expected to be the final Cabinet meeting before the general election is called, Minister for Education Norma Foley is set to bring a plan to waive state exam fees next year and reduce school transport scheme fees.

7. A member of the judging panel for the GAA All Stars has spoken out on the decision to award a player of the year nomination to Limerick hurler Kyle Hayes.

GAA journalist Pat Nolan said that off-field behaviour was not discussed by the 12-person panel ahead of awarding nominations.

8. The mother of a vulnerable teenager who is said to have attacked his family and threatened her with a knife has been granted permission by the High Court to bring a legal action against the Child and Family Agency and the HSE over his treatment.
