Man in critical condition following double-motorbike collision in Monaghan

The accident occurred when one motorbike hit the other and knocked it into the path of an oncoming car.

TWO MEN HAVE been hospitalised following a collision involving two motorbikes and a car.

One of the men is understood to be in a critical condition with head and neck injuries.

The incident happened on the Castleblayney to Clontibret Road at Annyalla at 9.30pm last night.

One motorbike rear-ended the other which diverted the second bike into the path of an oncoming car.

The two men who were riding the motorbikes were taken from the scene to the Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

The injuries the men sustained include a broken collar-bone and road-burns after one of the riders was dragged behind his vehicle.

The occupants of the car, a man and a woman passenger, were uninjured.

The road remains closed at Annyalla with diversions in place, while gardaí are at the scene.
