Three arrested in Louth metal theft

The men were arrested shortly after the metal was reported stolen on Wednesday and two men have since been charged.

THREE MEN HAVE been arrested in connection with the theft of metal from a premises in Ardee, Co Louth on Wednesday.

Gardaí stopped and searched a van on St John’s Street Ardee shortly after the incident was reported. During the course of the search Gardaí recovered metal which had been earlier reported stolen.

Three males aged between 17 and 21-years-old were arrested in connection with the theft and detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Two men have been charged in connection with the theft and are due to appear in Ardee District Court on the 10th September 2012 at 10.30am.

Gardaí said they would like to advise the public that crime prevention advice on metal theft is available on the Garda website www.garda.ie and all suspicious activity should be reported to your local Garda station or to the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
