Nearly €100k worth of cannabis found hidden in dried fish

The drugs came from Cotonou, Benin in West Africa.

GARDAÍ AND REVENUE have seized nearly €100,000 worth of cannabis that was hidden in dried fish.

Officers from Revenue, the Garda Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda Drugs Unit in Galway carried out a search in house in Knocknacarra in Galway yesterday.

They seized about 4.7kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €94,000.

The drugs came from Cotonou, Benin in West Africa and were concealed in dried fish.

A 36-year-old Irish woman was arrested at the scene and is being held at Galway Garda Station.

An investigation into the drugs in ongoing.
