Six units of Dublin fire brigade tackle gorse fire billowing smoke onto M50
The fire has been burning for nearly three hours.
DUBLIN FIRE BRIGADE (DFB) has warned motorists that visibility on the M50 and N11 may be hampered by smoke caused by a large gorse fire on the Dublin mountains.
Six units of the brigade are dealing with the blaze which started at around 7pm in the Three Rock mountain area of south Dublin.
DFB has warned the public to close windows and doors as winds may sweep the smoke into homes.
It said that it had also deployed an “aerial support drone” to the gorse fire to help firefighting efforts.
Last week, units of DFB were sent to the scene of a gorse fire at the Lead Mines near Kilternan in the south of the county.
