THE MAKERS of a controversial Facebook app, which allows users to anonymously indicate which of their friends they would sleep with, claim their services has attracted over 30,000 users – including five new sign-ups every minute.
‘Bang With Friends’ allows users to indicate which of their Facebook friends they would be interested in getting “down for the night” with, but promises to keep their affections a secret.
Their desires will only be revealed if one of the objects of their affection also signs up and independently declares their willingness to sleep with the first user.
Though the service promises total discretion, its anonymity is compromised somewhat: as Buzzfeed notes, anybody signing up to use the app is shown a list of any of their friends who have already signed up to the service.
This means someone who could be hoping to covertly indicate their fancy for a friend may have their cover blown by the fact that Facebook routinely indicates which of a friend’s users are also signed up to an app.
Despite this, the makers claim the service has been a runaway success since it was launched last week.
The creators told Mashable that they had 30,000 users – “mostly 20-something” – with five new people signing up to use the service every minute.
They added that they plan to expand the service to cater to same-sex relationships in the coming weeks.
