The man went into the river on Sunday evening.

THE BODY OF a man has been recovered from the River Shannon.

The man went into the river on Sunday evening, but searches yesterday proved unsuccessful.

A further search was organised for today, with local fishermen and Civil Defence representatives assisting.

The search turned up the body of the man at around 6pm this evening, a representative of Limerick Marine Search and Rescue confirmed to TheJournal.ie tonight.
