POLICE IN BOSNIA are questioning a girl who kicked off an international manhunt after a video showing her throw six puppies into a river made its way online.
The girl, who appears to to be in her teens, hails from the central Bosnian town of Bogojno but, as she is a legal minor, cannot be named. She had mistakenly been identified as a German girl, known only as ‘Claudia P’, after users on 4chan thought they had identified the girl from her Facebook.
In the video, the girl is seen holding the six puppies in a bucket – and the newborn dogs are heard to yelp as she mercilessly picks them up and throws them into the Vrbas River.
At one point, the video – which has been repeatedly pulled from YouTube after complaints from animal lovers – even shows the girl shouting ‘Woo!’ as she carelessly drowns the puppies by flinging them into the fast-moving current.
It is locally reported that the girl had gotten rid of the three-day-old puppies on the instruction of her grandmother.
Bosnian law would leave a person who kills or tortures animals liable to fines ranging from €15 to €5,000.
While 4chan users have often pulled together for more harm than good, the site did help to identify Mary Bale as the woman who was found on CCTV putting a cat into a wheelie bin last month.
