Boy, 4, killed in two-car collision in Limerick

The boy was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead earlier today.

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy has died following a two-car collision in Limerick earlier today.

The crash happened at this crossroad just outside the church and parish theatre, The Honey Fitz, at Patrick’s Well, Lough Gur, Co Limerick at around 1.15pm this afternoon when it collided with another vehicle.

There was one female driver and three children in the first car and one male driver, a female adult passenger and three children in the second car.

A funeral had been held at the church earlier that morning but it is not believed that the boy and his family had been travelling from the funeral.

The boy was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. All other passengers in the car received minor injuries, a garda spokesperson said.

The road is closed and traffic is being diverted.
