Gormanston

Cannabis worth €2.5 million and two hand grenades seized in Meath

A male was arrested at the property in Gormanston, Co Meath.

GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €2.5 million after searching a property in Gormanston, Co Meath today.

Two hand grenades were also seized; the Defence Forces’ Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were called to the scene and have made the devices safe.

A male was arrested at the location and is currently detained at Ashbourne Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.

The searches were carried out as part of an intelligence-led operation by the Gardaí from Ashbourne Co Meath and the Ballymun Garda Drugs Unit.

Garda investigations are continuing.
